It all centred on the 9th General Assembly of the European Association of Science Editors.

Before the conference, the Council and the Publications Committee met in elegant rooms, with coffee and cakes --John and Maeve have been stalwarts of the Publications Committee since the organisation's early days --At the AGM, one president (Elisabeth Kessler) steps down --
And a new one (Arjan Polderman) steps up --Before the sessions, a quick look at the history of the Jagellonian University, one of the oldest in Europe, whose alumni include Copernicus and Pope John Paul II --
After the AGM, the reception -- in the Collegium Maius, the oldest building within the University, built in the 15th century.
A splendid buffet had been provided, and the background music was excellent.
The ice cream was irresistible --And as 6.00 struck, everything stopped while we watched the musical clock.
